JSON Labs Release: Native JSON Data Type and Binary Format

With the advent of NoSQL databases that uses key-value, graph, or document data structures in place of MySQL relational database structure. NoSQL according to Wikipedia, was motivated by the simplicity of design, horizontal scaling, and finer control over availability.

MySQL just stunned everyone with the newly introduced native JSON datatype. In this release they also introduced a number of functions for creating and querying JSON documents. Below are some of the functions that was released alongside the new MySQL JSON Datatype.
